The opening ceremony of International School on Physics and Allied Disciplines (ISPAD) 2026 was held with great enthusiasm and significance at National Center for Physics (NCP) Islamabad. The ceremony was graced by the Honourable Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Prof. Naiz Ahmad Akhtar (S.I.) as the Chief Guest. He showed confidence in the research and development projects done at NCP. He applauded the research capabilities and successful completion of various tasks of national importance. The chief guest also distributed the souvenirs to speaker from China, Japan and Turkey.

The Director General of NCP, Dr. Qaisar Ahsan highlighted the areas of research in which NCP is working at, in particular, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The Director General of Center of Excellence in Physics (CoE Physics) Prof. Aftab Rafiq addressed the audience, emphasizing the role of collaborative research, indigenous technological development, and capacity building in emerging scientific domains. Their remarks underscored the commitment to fostering excellence and self-reliance in critical areas of science and technology such as climate change, artificial rain-fall, semiconductor technology and quantum devices.

The event brought together distinguished scientists, researchers, and students, highlighting the importance of advanced research and innovation in Pakistan. The ceremony set a forward-looking tone for ISPAD-2026, inspiring participants to engage in meaningful dialogue and contribute towards the nation’s scientific progress.
