Hosted researchers at NCP are classified into the following categories:
Distinguished foreign and local scientists working in the field of physics and allied disciplines and employed at various HEC recognized reputed universities/ research Centres may join NCP as adjunct faculty to assist researchers at NCP Campus in their studies and R&D assignments.
- Pre-requisites:
- Ph.D from a HEC recognized foreign/local university with good research & teaching experience in universities/research organizations and having published quality research papers in impact factor journals of international repute.
- Referral Letter: A referral letter from the Chairman/Head of Department of institution/Dean of the University (on original Letter Head and duly stamped) must be attached with the Hosted Researcher Application Form. Scanned copy of the referral 1letter will be accepted/entertained. However, original is to be submitted upon joining NCP.
- Duration of Stay: Appointment will be for a period of 3 years. A total of 9 man-months (maximum of 3 -4 months per year) will be permissible at NCP.
- Emoluments: Honorarium up to Rs. 150,000/- per month to foreign faculty and up to Rs. 50,000/- per month to a local faculty may be paid for the period of their stay at NCP subject to the availability of funds. The emoluments will be paid only for the duration spent in NCP conducting scientific work.
- Travel: Economy class air travel may be paid to foreign adjunct faculty members while first class rail fare may be paid to the outstation Pakistani adjunct faculty members subject to availability of funds.
Foreign/Pakistani Researchers working in the field of physics and allied disciplines who are either employed and actively performing in HEC recognized universities, institutes and R&D Centres and have strong passion for research may join NCP for short span of time up to three months to collaborate with regular/hosted researchers at NCP Campus using the in-house research facilities.
- Pre-requisites:
- Ph.D with teaching/research experience at HEC recognized Universities / Research Organizations and having published at least five quality research papers in impact factor journals of international repute during the last five years.
- Referral Letter: A referral letter from the Chairman/Head of Department of institution/Dean of the University (on original Letter Head and duly stamped) must be attached with the Hosted Researcher Application Form. Scanned copy of the referral letter will be accepted/entertained. However, original is to be submitted upon joining NCP.
- Duration of Stay: Entitled to work at NCP for a period not more than one year.
- Emoluments: Honorarium of 30,000/- up to Rs. 100,000/- per month may be paid subject to availability of funds. The emoluments will be paid only for the duration spent in NCP conducting scientific work.
- Travel: NCP may facilitate local pick/drop on payment basis subject to availability of transport and suitability of route.
Foreign, expatriate as well as local scientists & researchers who are actively working in the field of physics and allied disciplines at HEC recognized universities/research institutions may join NCP /allied Centres as NCP Associates. They will be required to collaborate with regular researchers & hosted researchers at NCP Campus in R&D assignments and to strengthen their research activities.
- Pre-requisites:
- PhD from a HEC recognized foreign university with good teaching & research experience in universities/research organizations and having published quality research work in journals of international repute during the last five years.
- Referral Letter: A referral letter from the Chairman/Head of Department of institution/Dean of the University (on original Letter Head and duly stamped) must be attached with the Hosted Researcher Application Form. Scanned copy of the referral letter will be accepted/entertained. However, original is to be submitted upon joining NCP.
- Duration of Stay: Appointment will be made initially for a period of one year extendable up to three years’ subject to satisfactory research output at NCP. Associates are required to visit NCP at least 3 months (in one or more visits) in a year for research work.
- Emoluments: Foreign Associate Honorarium up to Rs. 75,000/- per month subject to availability of funds. Local AssociateHonorarium of Rs. 15,000/- per month for associates of age group less than 45 years, and Rs. 25,000/- per month for associates of age group more than 45 years will be paid subject to availability of funds.
- Travel: Partial economy class air travel may be paid to foreign associates subject to availability of funds.
Fresh PhDs working in the field of physics & allied disciplines and sponsored by local or foreign academic/scientific bodies such as HEC (e.g. for IPFP fellows), PSF, TWAS, COMSTECH, COMSATS, IDB, etc. to conduct experimental or theoretical research work at NCP/allied Centres and to assist regular researchers as well as hosted researchers in their academic projects.
- Pre-requisites:
- Must be Ph.D (field relevant to NCP mandate) from recognized Foreign/Local universities and recommended by concerned Director of NCP and financial sponsorship from the recognized national & international academic/scientific bodies such as HEC (for IPFP fellows), Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) Research Grant, TWAS (for post doc fellows and research scholars), COMSTECH, COMSATS, etc.
- Candidate will be interviewed by NCP Standing Selection Committee for evaluation/recommendation or otherwise
- Referral Letter: A referral letter from the Chairman/Head of Department of institution/Dean of the University (on original Letter Head and duly stamped) must be attached with the Hosted Researcher Application Form. Scan copy of the referral letter will be accepted/entertained. However, original is to be submitted upon joining NCP.
- Duration of Stay: Post-Doctoral Fellows may be entitled to work at NCP for duration of Six months to one year upon recommendation of NCP Standing Selection Committee and approval of DG NCP.
- Emoluments: Honorarium up to Rs.50,000/- per month upon recommendation of Standing Selection Committee (DOP vide para 5b (1))
- Boarding/Lodging: To be provided by NCP subject to approval by DG NCP as per policy. In case of provision of Transport Facility to individuals residing in Islamabad/Rawalpindi subject to availability of seat and suitability of route, conveyance charges will be deducted.
Academically high grade foreign/Pakistani students who are enrolled in Ph.D./MS/M.Phil. at HEC recognized universities/institutions in Pakistan or abroad in the field of physics and allied disciplines and desirous of being supervised/co-supervised by faculty at NCP & allied Centres for their thesis/dissertation related research work.
- Pre-requisites:
- Must be enrolled in Ph.D and MS/ M.Phil Programme of Physics or allied disciplines at HEC recognized universities.
- Before deciding to supervise a Ph.D / MS/M.Phil. student, a telephonic/email contact/or meeting between the supervisor at his/her respective university/ research organization and the concerned Director/Supervisor at NCP is mandatory to discuss the availability of work stations & feasibility of research work within the NCP Campus.
- Referral Letter: A referral letter from the Chairman/Head of Department of institution/Dean of the University (on original Letter Head and duly stamped) must be attached with the Hosted Researcher Application Form. Photocopy or Scanned Copy of the referral letter will not be accepted/entertained.
- Supervision: In general, it is required that the students must opt supervisors among faculty at NCP Complex. In this case, the university where the student is pursuing his/her Ph.D/MS/M.Phil program may appoint the student’s NCP supervisor as Adjunct Faculty Member (provided he/she meets the University criteria in education, experience etc.) in respective Departments of the University in order to facilitate scientific collaborations.
- Duration of Stay: For MS/M.Phil students, the maximum period to work at NCP is 12 months and for Ph.D students, the maximum period 1to work at NCP is 24 months. Upon completion of thesis research work at NCP, the PhD or MS/M.Phil student may be provided extension for a maximum period of six months subject to recommendation by the concerned Director/Supervisor and approval by the NCP Academic Council on submission of proforma/request for extension.
- Emoluments: No emolument will be paid by NCP to Ph.D or MS/M.Phil researchers. However, in case of foreign Research Scholars, NCP will pay as per standard terms and conditions laid down in the MoU/agreement signed with the local/foreign funding agencies etc. (such as signed with TWAS under NCP-TWAS Fellowship Programme)
- Travel: NCP may facilitate local pick/drop on payment basis subject to availability of transport and suitability of route.
Students who have completed or studying in the final year of their M. Sc. / B. Sc. Engineering/B.S. (four-year program)/Diploma in Associate Engineers/Three years Diploma Holders (15 Years of education) or equivalent program in the field of physics and allied disciplines and intend to execute short term research projects in various departments of NCP and allied Centres.
- Pre-requisites:
- The applicant must be M.Sc/B.Sc Engineering/Computers/BS (four year)/Diploma in Associate Engineering/three years diploma level gram student of final year in Physics and allied disciplines or student of Final year MBA/BBA or a selected nominee under National Internship Programme (NIP).
- Referral Letter: A referral letter from the Chairman/Head of Department of institution/Dean of the University (on original Letter Head and duly stamped) must be attached with the Hosted Researcher Application Form. Photocopy or scanned copy of the referral letter will not be accepted/entertained.5
- Duration of Stay: For student internees, the maximum period to work at NCP is up to six months, whereas for internees under NIP, the maximum period will be upto one year
- Emoluments: No emoluments will be paid to the internees.
- Travel: NCP may facilitate local pick/drop on payment basis subject to availability of transport and suitability of route.
