April 14 - 18, 2014

Aims and Objectives

We have successfully organized Five Winter Meetings on Particles and Fields in Pakistan. The first one was held in the Physics Department of the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, in 2008. The second, third such meetings were organized at the National Centre for Physics, Islamabad, in 2009 and 2010 where as the fourth meeting took place at the School of Science and Engineering at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore in 2011. These four meeting were mainly the National Winter Meeting. The fifth meeting took place at the Centre of High Energy Physics, Punjab University Lahore in 2013. This meeting has a sufficient content from the International Speakers and that is why we named it Winter Meeting on Particles and fields. The main speakers were from the Austria, Maxico, USA and Canada.

This series of workshops has been considered to be a success by several participants. It serves as a forum where Pakistani researchers in the field have the chance to present the work they are carrying out to their fellow researchers with the possibility of initiating mutual collaborations. Many research students also have had the opportunity to present their work. Participation of junior students has been thought to be useful to introduce them to the exciting field of particle physics. As a natural consequence, we propose the realization of the Sixth Winter Meeting on Particles and Fields, Pakistan on April 14 – 18, 2014. This is intended to be an extended version of the previous meetings with sizeable international component associated with it. It is planned to be held at National Centre for Physics, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
