Snr. Scientific Officer (SPS-09)

PhD (Physics/ Applied Mathematics or Electrical Engineering)

  In-depth knowledge of FORTRAN and C++ for object oriented programing

  Sound background of development of logic and efficient algorithms for solving matrix equation under physical constraints

  Good experience of creating computational models, code development and simulation by efficient numerical techniques (e.g. spectral methods, finite difference, finite element, etc.)

  Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary research team and to present research to peers

  Keen interest in extending mathematical and scientific computing techniques to new problems

  The candidate will work on either Silicon or gaseous detectors R & D for the CMS Phase II and /or Phase I upgrades. She/he will lead a highly motivated group of scientists to assemble and test silicon modules and/or GEM detectors at NCP. The candidates are expected to regularly present the progress made on detectors R & D projects in the CMS experiment working group meetings at CERN

  Designing and implementing numerical techniques and algorithms to solve complex mathematical models and multiscale problems in physics described by systems of nonlinear equations

  Developing computational tools for calculations, simulations and analysis

  Working closely with researchers to identify, develop and implement useful computational methods and resources that support or advance their research

Snr. Scientific Officer (SPS-09)

PhD (Physics/ Materials Science) with MSc Physics background

  In-depth knowledge of electrochemical energy materials for processing in energy storage and conversion devices

  Experience on simulation tools for multi-scale materials designing like materials studio, VASP, 3D Max etc.

  Expertise on Electrochemical Workstations, Battery Testing Systems and Battery assembling

  Expertise on Electrochemical Workstations, Battery Testing Systems and Battery assembling

  Competency for materials characterization advanced techniques such as TGA/DTA, DSC, PXRD, FTIR, SEM, HRTEM, RAMAN and XPS analysis

  Experience in first principles (DFT, TDDFT) and ion beam applications in materials science would be given preference

  Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary research team and excellent writing skills to present research to peers

  Designing and fabrication of active materials by using facile and affective methods to apply for energy storage and conversion devices like anode or cathode materials for batteries and super capacitor, electro catalysis for fuel cell and water splitting

  The candidate should have ability to analyze all structural and morphological analysis as electrochemical electrodes materials

  The candidate should have ability to lead a highly motivated group of scientists to produce new and innovative research, experimental data includes applying computer analysis and simulation programs to interpret experimental data

  Collaborate in the development of research proposals and new scientific initiatives.

Snr. Scientific Officer (SPS-09)

PhD (Experimental High Energy Physics)

  Experience in the area of semi-conductor (silicon) or gaseous detectors development (such as GEM or RPC) for Hadron Collider Experiments (such as CMS, ATLAS, D0 and CDF etc.) is highly desirable.

  The candidates should have demonstrated experience of analyzing large data from HEP experiments and should be well versed in the analysis tools as well as programing languages required for the data analysis such as C++, python, multivariate techniques, statistical tools for limit setting and significance calculation as well as grid and cloud computing

  The candidates should be able to work independently as well as part of a big research team and should be willing to supervise research students. The candidates should help organizing the regular research events/ workshops of NCP and giving lectures to train new minds

Scientific Officer (SPS-08)

  M.Sc (Physics) with (1st Div)


   M.Phil (Physics) with (1st Div)

  Experience in gaseous or semi-conductor detectors R&D or experience of relevant performance studies will be an advantage. Knowledge of programing languages such as C++, python and Linux system is prefered

  The candidate should be willing to work as a part of big research team and regularly present the progress in NCP and CMS working group meetings

Important Instrucitons

  • No 3rd Division allowed in entire academic career.
  • Preferably first class academic career, however one second division may be allowed except in final degree
  • First class degree means a minimum of 60 % marks for annual system or CGPA 2.5 out of 4.0 for semester system and second class means a minimum of 50 % marks for annual system or CGPA 2.0 out of 4.0 for semester system
  • Candidates whose PhD research work has been completed and waiting to defend their thesis can also apply
  • For the post of Scientific Officer (SPS-08), preference will be given to those candidates having M.Phil. (Physics) with 1st Div
  • Candidates must have obtained educational degrees/certificates from the institutions/ universities duly recognized by Higher Education Commission/ Government.
  • Appointment is subject to verification of educational/other documents and antecedents. If the documents of any appointee found fake at any stage, he/she shall be terminated and also be liable to legal action
  • Age limit is 18 to 35 years on closing date of advertisement. However, relaxation in age may be given as per rules
  • Candidates already serving in Govt. departments/Autonomous Bodies/ Semi Govt. department should apply through proper channel
  • Only short listed candidates will be called for test/interview
  • Please note that fulfilling the selection criteria does not guarantee short listing. If large number of applications meets eligibility criteria, only the most qualified and experienced candidates would be shortlisted for test/interview
